Here we come again, another small prototype made by me for study purposes. This time I wanted to play around with physics constraints and with rope physics in general.
The first thing that came to my mind was the unlucky Nintendo 3DS game Chibi-Robo! Zip Lash
Using that as reference I was trying to create 2 simple game mechanics:
- You can connect your tank to some specific object by a cable
- When connected you power up the linked object
But I wanted to find a particular aesthetic that made the game elements stand out almost exclusively.
During the days in which I developed this prototype I (re)thought about a music video from a few years ago made by Riot Games for the 2018 League of Legends World Championship starring the virtual group KDA.
I’m completely mesmerized by that beautiful color palette, so I decide making my prototype with a very similar palette.
I wanted to develop a cable that could bend at corners when dragging a heavy object so I decided to create one consisting of physical elements (spheres) and short interconnecting cables
With the 2 main mechanics ready I started creating a game level to test them.
After some tuning this is the final result:
Also this time I have to thank my friends Sergio, FDG (for real this time 🙂 ) and Giordano who have the patience to listen to me and try my prototypes, thanks guys! <3
